The Person Component 亻: Chinese Writing Worksheet

When 人 (person) sits on the left side of a character, it becomes the narrow 亻. You will find it in many characters about people and what they do. Notice how 亻 always takes the same narrow shape on the left.

How to use it

  1. Print the sheet in the character set you are learning.
  2. Say the character out loud, then trace the grey character slowly.
  3. Write it on your own in the empty boxes, keeping each character inside its square. The dashed lines help you place each part.
  4. Check your writing against the grey character, and try again tomorrow. Short, regular practice works better than one long session.

The worksheets don’t show stroke order. That is easier to learn by watching each stroke being drawn. In the Hanzibloc app you write every character stroke by stroke on your phone, and the app checks each stroke as you go.
